STOCK JUDGING

Judging competitions provide an agricultural based competition, for both on farm and urban members and for male and female members. By entering this competition, you will gain the experience of actually comparing the animals and then listening to the judges reasoning for their placing. This is the way to actually learn to judge the relative merits of animals, without needing any prior experience.

Three (3) of the following are mandatory: -
Wool Sheep, Prime lambs, Beef Cattle, Dairy Cattle, Pigs, Horses, Angora goats, Poultry, Deer.

RULES

1. There will be four (4) animals in every competition and they will be labelled A, B, C & D.

2. Every competitor will receive a judging card adopted from the Royal Agricultural Society of Tasmania.

3. Each competitor must:
 (a) Assess and write down the best and worst features of each animal.
 (b) Judge the animal and place letters A, B, C & D. in order of merit in the boxes marked first, second, third and fourth.
 (c) Competitors record can be detached.

4. The time allowed for judging will be twenty (20) minutes.

5. An overjudge will be appointed He/she will judge the animals and then score the cards. The closest entry to the judge will be declared the winner.
