Rural Youth members were excited to host such a great bunch of International Exchangees in 2008.

Bio Details:

Isabelle Marti

Country: Switzerland

Age: 20

Occupation: Baker

Experience in Rural Youth:

She has been a member for three years and has been on their committee for two years.

Interests/hobbies:

Isabelle enjoys horse-back riding, jogging, volleyball, walking the dog, skiing, socialising and young farmers.

Things she is looking forward to:

Isabelle would like to see a kangaroo and the ocean, and to experience the Australian life.

Isabelle comes from a 49 ha dairy and cropping farm. They produce corn, wheat, barley, sugar beet, potatoes and grass. They have 26 cows, 40 bulls and 3horses. In her spare time Isabelle helps her parents on their farm.

Elinor Metsjo

Country: Borgholm, Sweden

Age: 21

Experience in Rural Youth:

Elinor has been a member since she was 11 years old. She have been mainly involved in the National Camps and is now a leader at their summer camps and weekend courses.

Interests/hobbies:

Elinor is involved in her local amateur theatre groups. She enjoys many different types of dancing, history, reading and spending time with her friends.

Things she is looking forward to:

Elinor would like to investigate the local fauna and flora and also experience the Australian culture first hand.

 

Megan Jenman

Country: Herefordshire, England

Age: 18

Occupation: Receptionist

Experience in Rural Youth:

Megan has been a member for 8 years. She has been the social secretary for her club.

Interests/hobbies:

Megan enjoys socialising, shopping, exercising, wine and food.

Things she is looking forward to:

Megan is looking forward to seeing all of Australia’s famous landscape.

Kathryn Arnold

Country: Leicestershire, England

Age: 22

Occupation: Assistant Human Resource Advisor

Experience in Rural Youth:

Kathryn has been a member for 3 years. She has been the Vice President, program, sports and fun events secretary for her club. She has also been the Tug of War organiser for her county.

Interests/hobbies:

Kathryn is a member of her local athletics club and competes all over the country during the summer time.

Things she is looking forward to:

Kathryn is looking forward to seeing our local fauna and experience Australian rodeos.

Kayley Kennedy

Country: Perthshire, Scotland

Age: 19

Occupation: Just about to start Craibstone Agricultural College in Aberdeen to study for a degree in Agriculture.

Experience in Rural Youth:

Kayley has been a member for 5 years. She has held the positions of ladies sports convenor, press secretary and assistant secretary. In Perthshire Region she has been a committee member and press secretary.

Interests/hobbies:

Kayley likes to spend time on her family farm and has just started her own Highland Pony stud.

 

Philip Henry

Country: Londonderry, Northern Ireland

Age: 20

Experience in Rural Youth:

Philip has been a member of Colraine for 8 years. He has held the positions of secretary and been involved in public speaking, tug of war, debating and stock judging.

Interests/hobbies:

Philip enjoys being involved in Tug of War, Soccer and rugby.

Philip comes from a 200 acre dairy and beef farm. They have 120 dairy cow and 60 head of beef cattle. They also grow 20 acres of barley.
