The Rural Youth Organisation of Tasmania along with our naming rights partner Woolworths are excited to announce the launch of the Woolworths Tasmanian Young Farmer of the Year 2022 Competition.

The competition tests the practical and theoretical knowledge of our contestants through a series of 12 agriculture-related modules spanning a range of skills from sheep handling, soil health and sprayer calibration to public speaking and finance. Contestants battle it out for top spot, a chance to win some amazing prizes and the title of Young Farmer of the Year!

Woolworths Riverside Store Manager Wesley Polden said “We value highly the relationships we have with our Tasmanian farmers and primary producers. Sponsoring the Rural Youth’s Young Farmer Competition is a way of showing our support to all the young farmers of Tasmania. We are very proud to be the naming rights sponsor of such a worthwhile competition.”

The official launch will occur in the Function Centre at Quercus Park, Carrick at 10.30am on Friday 14th of January. Media are welcome to attend the launch.

Run-offs will occur on Saturday 26 March 2022 at Hagley Farm School and the State Final is to be held on Saturday 28 May 2022 at Quercus Park, Carrick.
