The Young Farmer competition is one of the largest competitions run.
Around July each year, each Region holds their own Young Farmer Runoff - which anyone can enter. It tests skills such as stock judging, seed ID, first aid, fencing, etc - modules can be anything associated with farming. It is always a fun day where even people who know very little about farming can test their skills and enjoy learning something new!
Each Region automatically qualify their three best "Young Farmers" along with the top six scorers from around the State which make up the "Top 15 Young Farmers" who go through to the State Final held in September. The Top 15 compete in eight modules throughout the day, with the best six competitors competing in the final two modules - Public Speaking and Quiz held during the evening with the Young Farmer Dinner.
We have many sponsors for the Young Farmer competition which make prizes for the final six well worth winning!
